*The Specifics
A close-knit and fun-loving family is seeking a dependable and organized nanny/family assistant to join their household. The family includes their energetic and kind-hearted 5-year-old son, who attends school full-time. This role will primarily focus on family assistant duties (75–80%) while also providing childcare support (20–25%). The family values a balance of structure and flexibility and hopes to find someone who is proactive, caring, and able to keep their household running smoothly.
The workday begins at 7:00 a.m., with the nanny responsible for getting their son ready for school and driving him to school drop-off. After drop-off, the nanny will shift into family assistant mode, handling household tasks such as laundry, grocery shopping, running errands, meal prep, and scheduling household maintenance. Taking initiative is key—the family is looking for someone who can observe what needs to be done and take initiative to get the project done. The day typically ends around 5:00 p.m., but the nanny should have some flexibility to stay later on occasion, with as much notice as possible.
The family currently provides two half-days off each week for their nanny, which is negotiable. One of their son’s grandmothers provides after-school care once a week, reducing the nanny’s childcare responsibilities on those days. While childcare is a smaller part of the role, the family places a high priority on finding a caregiver who is reliable, nurturing, and able to create a safe and supportive environment. The nanny will handle after-school care, ensuring their son is engaged with fun and developmentally appropriate activities.
The ideal candidate will be organized, independent, and capable of managing household tasks. Strong communication skills and the ability to anticipate the family's needs are highly valued. A background or interest in family assistant work, along with a natural ability to plan and keep things running smoothly, will make for a great fit.
The family follows a parenting philosophy rooted in love and logic, aiming to raise a kind, independent child. They believe in fostering a supportive and respectful environment where their son can learn from natural consequences and grow emotionally and socially.
Their son has allergies to finned fish (such as tuna and salmon), cashews, and pistachios, so the nanny must be mindful of these dietary restrictions. Other shellfish and nuts are safe.
The family describes themselves as laid-back yet organized, with a “work hard, play hard” mindset. They love to travel, spend time outdoors, and enjoy quality time together in their neighborhood. They have been with their current nanny for 5.5 years and would love to build another long-term relationship with their new nanny. Finding someone who will become an integral part of the family—a dependable and motivated individual who will help keep their home running smoothly while providing loving care for their son—is a top priority.
