*The Specifics

This busy, loving family is seeking a long-term Nanny/Family Assistant to help manage their active household with warmth, structure, and a proactive mindset. Both parents hold executive-level roles that require travel and full schedules, and they are looking for a responsible, dependable professional who can provide consistency and stability for their children. Their home is kind, energetic, sometimes loud, and always caring. They value raising independent, respectful children who listen to the adult in charge and take responsibility for their actions. Above all, how a caregiver treats their children is the family’s top priority.

The family has two children, Girl (9 years) and Boy (15 years), who are creative, active, and deeply involved in extracurriculars. Boy (15 years) enjoys music, theater, singing, and swimming, while G (9 years) balances creativity, volleyball, sports, and social activities. Both children have ADHD, so the ideal candidate will be patient, flexible, and emotionally intuitive — someone who can read situations, recognize big feelings, and smoothly redirect when needed. The family previously had a beloved long-term nanny for six years and hopes to find someone similarly engaged, playful, and attuned to the children’s emotional and social dynamics.

This role blends hands-on childcare with thoughtful family assistant duties. During the school year, responsibilities include school pickups, transportation to after-school activities, overseeing homework routines (not tutoring, but keeping them on track), and managing the children’s social calendars. In the summer, the nanny will accompany the children to activities, pool days, and outings. The ideal nanny/family assistant will also research and present options for camps, classes, and weekend activities, helping the children stay active and off screens, especially during the summer months.

Household responsibilities include preparing healthy lunches, assisting with meal planning, and completing light meal prep such as batch cooking proteins or chopping vegetables. The nanny will manage children’s laundry, maintain light housekeeping to keep the home orderly, and run errands including groceries and household supplies. Vendor coordination — such as being home for service appointments or deliveries — is part of the role, along with inventory management to ensure the family never runs out of essentials. Seasonal organization, including rotating closets and preparing for back-to-school transitions, is also expected.

The nanny/family assistant will also assist with maintaining the family calendar, registering the children for activities, scheduling appointments, and helping with travel preparation, including packing and coordinating pet care. Additional support may include helping plan birthday parties, assisting with hosting duties, and managing cleanup. Summer projects could involve organizing spaces such as the garage, managing decluttering initiatives, or house-sitting while the family travels. Winter responsibilities may include holiday shopping, wrapping gifts, and coordinating seasonal preparations.

The family has a friendly mini Goldendoodle who will happily assume the caregiver is there just for him, so comfort with pets and assisting with basic care such as feeding and walks is important. They are looking for someone who is highly organized, communicative in a straightforward way, and able to shift between focusing on the children’s needs and supporting the household. A safe driving record, reliable transportation, and previous experience with school-age children are essential. Experience as a family assistant is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative without waiting for direction. The family values open communication and provides a household credit card for approved purchases, along with weekly check-ins to align on priorities and upcoming needs. They hope to find someone warm, friendly, fun, and engaging — someone who genuinely enjoys being with children and can balance firmness with kindness. This is a long-term opportunity, and the family looks forward to welcoming the right person into their home and becoming a trusted part of their lives.
